Oklahoma State is hiring Western Kentucky head coach Steve Lutz to fill its vacancy after firing Mike Boynton, the school announced on Monday.

The 51-year-old has only been a Division-I head coach for three seasons but made the NCAA Tournament in each campaign. He coached Texas A&M Corpus Christi from 2021-23 before his one year with the Hilltoppers.

Before becoming a head coach, Lutz spent time as an assistant for Greg McDermott at Creighton and Matt Painter at Purdue.

Oklahoma State parted ways with Boynton last month after going 119-109 with one March Madness appearance in seven seasons.
