The Texas Rangers agreed to a one-year contract with veteran reliever David Robertson on Friday, the team announced.

Robertson is guaranteed $11.5 million in the deal, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. He will earn $5 million in 2024 with a $7-million mutual option for 2025 that includes a $1.5-million buyout. He'll also earn $1 million per year in deferred money between 2027-2031.

The 38-year-old posted a 3.03 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 78 strikeouts across 65 1/3 innings with the New York Mets and Miami Marlins last season while also logging 18 saves.

Robertson's converted 175 saves over his 15-year career but will likely slide into a setup role ahead of José Leclerc. Texas needed to add another late-inning reliever after Aroldis Chapman hit free agency and eventually signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The right-hander, who ranks 72nd on the all-time saves list, joins Kirby Yates as the Rangers' offseason additions to the bullpen.

Texas also re-signed outfielder Travis Jankowski to a one-year deal, with the deal's financials undisclosed.
