Ashleigh Barty captured her first Grand Slam singles title Sunday with a 6-1, 6-3 straight sets win over Marketa Vondrousova in the French Open women's final.
The eighth-seeded Barty became the first Australian - man or woman - to win a singles title at Roland Garros since Margaret Court in 1973.
The 23-year-old dominated the unseeded 19-year-old Vondrousova, racing to a 4-0 lead while ending up with a 27-10 edge in winners.
Barty took a two-year hiatus away from tennis between 2014-16 to pursue cricket.
