Report: Aces extend core player qualifying offer to Cambage

The Las Vegas Aces have extended the core player qualifying offer to veteran center Liz Cambage, sources told Winsidr's Rachel Galligan.

The three-time All-Star has averaged 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game across four WNBA seasons - 2011, 2013, 2018, and 2019. Cambage opted out of the 2020 campaign, which was held in its entirety at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, this summer.

By designating Cambage as the team's core player, the Aces maintain exclusive negotiating rights with the 6-foot-8 superstar ahead of free agency. The 29-year-old Australian native can either accept a one-year deal with a base salary equal to the super-max figure or negotiate a longer-term contract with Las Vegas, according to Her Hoop Stats.

The Aces also announced the re-signing of guard Lindsay Allen and forward Emma Cannon.

Allen, 25, averaged 3.3 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.1 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game in 2020 while starting in all 21 of her appearances.

After not appearing in the WNBA since 2017, Cannon logged just 24 seconds in the 2020 regular season before emerging as a mainstay in coach Bill Laimbeer's rotation late in the playoffs. From the semifinals onward, the 31-year-old averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 boards in 14.3 minutes per game.
