Lakers' Bradley donated $30K in supplies to WNBA's bubble
Despite opting out of the NBA's restart in Orlando, Los Angeles Lakers guard Avery Bradley made his presence felt in Florida this summer.
The 29-year-old and his wife, Ashley, donated more than $30,000 in supplies to the WNBA's bubble, including health and beauty items for the league's working mothers, and educational materials and games for their children, according to Forbes' Shlomo Sprung.
“One thing that was really important was the moms, being able to make sure their essential needs were taken care of,” Bradley said. “They don’t make as much, obviously, and I wanted to see if I could be of service to them to be able to assist in any way I could so they could focus on just basketball.”
The WNBA's truncated 22-game regular season and playoffs ran from July 25 to Oct. 6 in Bradenton, south of Tampa Bay, with the Seattle Storm winning the championship.
Bradley opted out of the NBA's restart in part because of his son's history of struggling to overcome respiratory illness. However, after Bradley's contributions to the Lakers' season overall, general manager Rob Pelinka decided in July that the team would offer the veteran guard a ring if it wins the 2020 title.
