Chicago White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn holds his most recent achievement - representing the United States in the World Baseball Classic - in very high regard.

"You represent your country, so there's really not a whole lot bigger you can do as an athlete besides winning a World Series," Lynn said Tuesday, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com. "When you are representing your country, that's pretty high up there."

The WBC officially kicks off Tuesday evening with the Netherlands hosting Cuba in Pool A. America's first game is against Great Britain on Saturday, during which Lynn's former teammate Adam Wainwright is expected to start.

Lynn, 35, could play a key role in America's starting rotation alongside Wainwright, Miles Mikolas, Brady Singer, and Merrill Kelly. The two-time All-Star posted a 3.99 ERA and 3.82 FIP over 121 2/3 innings in an injury-shortened 2022 campaign, his second season with the White Sox.

Lynn was a member of the 2011 championship-winning St. Louis Cardinals in his rookie season, acting as a reliever in the postseason.
