Toronto forward Emma Maltais, Boston forward Alina Muller, and Minnesota forward Grace Zumwinkle are the three finalists for the PWHL Rookie of the Year award, the league announced Tuesday.

Players born in 1998 and later competing in their first season of professional hockey in North America are eligible for the award.

Zumwinkle, 25, was tied for second in the league with 11 goals, and she paced Minnesota with 19 points. Her 98 shots on goal were 30 more than the next rookie. The University of Minnesota product was drafted 13th overall by Minnesota.

Maltais, 24, tied Zumwinkle for the rookie scoring lead with 19 points. She tied Alex Carpenter for the most assists in the league with 15. The former Ohio State Buckeye was taken 11th overall by Toronto.

Zumwinkle and Maltais were the only two players to score two shorthanded "jailbreak" goals this season.

Muller, 26, led Boston with 16 points. She matched Maltais with a plus-7 rating, the best among rookies. The Swiss star is the only first-round pick to be a finalist for the award, as she was selected third overall by Boston.

PWHL awards were voted on by an 18-member selection committee. Winners of each award will be announced in June.
