Norman: I pay 'zero attention' to comments from Tiger, McIlroy

The LIV Golf CEO has responded to his naysayers, including two of golf's biggest names.

"I pay zero attention to McIlroy and Woods, right?" Greg Norman told Today's Golfer's Michael Catling. "They have their agenda for whatever reason. They're saying whatever they want to say. It has no bearing or effect on me. I'm going to be with LIV for a long, long period of time."

Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods have long been strong proponents of the PGA TOUR. In mid-November, the former said Norman "needs to exit stage left" in order for the two tours to come to an agreement.

Woods echoed those comments Tuesday, saying "Greg has to go" before a meeting can take place.

However, the 67-year-old said he has the support of LIV Golf's investors and has no plans of leaving his position anytime soon.

"When the monopolist's territory is getting threatened, they're going to rear their ugly head up and do what they do," said Norman. "But from my whole perspective, I've always taken the high road this year. I will continue to take the high road because I believe in our business model. I believe in our people, I believe in the players' independent rights, and we've already seen a dramatic shift in our audience."

In November, LIV's managing director, Majed Al-Sorour, denied reports that Norman was on his way out.

LIV Golf's second season is starting to take shape as the league continues to unveil its 2023 events. Four tournaments have been announced so far, starting with the Mayakoba event in Mexico set for late February.
