Sam Burns fired a remarkable 10-under 62 on Friday at the AT&T Byron Nelson to build a two-shot lead ahead of the weekend action.

The 24-year-old, who's fresh off his first-career PGA TOUR victory two weeks ago at the Valspar Championship, carded seven birdies in his final 10 holes of Round 3 to pull away from the field.

"Everything out there felt great," Burns said, according to ASAP Sports. "Just feel like we got into a good rhythm throughout the round. Made a run right there on the back nine, and so it was nice to be able to finish it off with two birdies at the end."

This is the fifth time Burns has led or co-led at a tournament's midway point this season.

Leading the chase of Burns is Sweden's Alex Noren. The 2018 Ryder Cup participant posted a 64 to reach 15-under for the week.

Here's how the top of the leaderboard stands from TPC Craig Ranch:

Place Player To Par R2 Score
1st Sam Burns -17 62
2nd Alex Noren -16 64
3rd K.H. Lee -15 65
4th Doc Redman -14 67
5th J.J. Spaun -11 70

Jordan Spieth, who co-led after Round 1, followed up his 63 from Thursday with a 2-under 70. He sits in a six-way tie for sixth at 11-under par.

Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau both made the 6-under cut. They're both at 7-under for the week, good for a split of 40th.

Brooks Koepka, Sergio Garcia, and Rickie Fowler are among the group heading home early.
