After Brooks Koepka reignited Patrick Reed's sand-sweeping scandal, the purported culprit was once again forced the face the music following Round 1 of the WGC-Mexico Championship.

"Of course," Reed said Thursday when asked if he was aware of Koepka's recent comments, according to Golf Digest's Brian Wacker. He added: "I mean, I said what I have to say about what happened in the Bahamas. At the end of the day, all I'm trying to do is go out and play good golf and trying to win a golf championship and hopefully run Rory (McIlroy) down."

Reed was then asked a follow-up question about the topic, but a PGA Tour official stepped in before he could answer and said Reed was only there to talk about golf, according to Wacker.

Koepka reheated the controversy during a Tuesday appearance on SiriusXM radio.

"Uh, yeah," Koepka said when asked if Reed had cheated. "I mean, I don't know what he was doing, building sandcastles in the sand, but you know where your club is. I took three months off and I can promise you I know if I touched sand."

Prior to Thursday's incident, former CBS employee Peter Kostis hinted that the PGA Tour is prone to this type of behavior.

"The Tour wants more control over what's being said," Kostis said during a Tuesday appearance on the "No Laying Up" podcast. "I think they want more cheerleaders on the telecast."

The ex-broadcaster also took a shot at Reed, saying he's seen the American golfer "improve his lie up close and personal four times now." CBS did not renew Kostis' contract for the 2020 season.
