Lashley holds 1-shot lead after Round 2 at Rocket Mortgage Classic
Nate Lashley carded a 5-under 67 to maintain a one-shot lead at the Rocket Mortgage Classic after Round 2.
The 36-year-old fired a bogey-free 63 in Round 1 and followed it with a one-bogey, six-birdie showing Friday to get to 14-under at Detroit Golf Club.
Trailing Lashley is Cameron Champ, who fired a front-nine 28 but dropped a shot on the back nine to settle with a 7-under 65.
Champ won the Sanderson Farms Championship in only his second start as a full-time PGA Tour member in October. But he's battled injuries since then and only made two cuts since February.
Here's how the top of the leaderboard stands after Round 2:
Position | Player | To Par | R2 Score |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Nate Lashley | -14 | 67 |
2 | Cameron Champ | -13 | 65 |
3 | Charles Howell III | -12 | 67 |

Hideki Matsuyama sits at 9-under in a tie for 11th, while Rickie Fowler and Patrick Reed are both at 8-under.
Surprisingly, Dustin Johnson, Gary Woodland, and Bubba Watson all failed to make the 5-under cut line, which is the lowest cut relative to par since the 2016 RSM Classic, according to Golf Channel's Will Gray.
