Michelle Wie made an abrupt return to golf at the Women's PGA Championship after spending two months rehabbing a wrist injury. She shot a 12-over 84 and broke down in tears discussing her future after her round Thursday.

The 29-year-old had surgery on her wrist in October and hadn't played since mid-April. She returned for the Women's PGA Championship at Hazeltine National near Minneapolis, MN, one of the season's five major tournaments, and showed signs of pain. Wie was spotted icing her wrist on her third hole.

Wie was only 1-over after five holes but played her last 11 at 13-over par.

She admitted her shortened stint away from the game was inspired by watching the Golden State Warriors battle through injuries during the NBA playoffs. Wie's fiance is current Golden State executive Jonnie West, son of former NBA legend Jerry West.

Wie turned pro before her 16th birthday and is a five-time winner on the LPGA Tour. She claimed her lone major at the 2014 U.S. Women's Open and only has one win since.
