Team USA bounces back, trounces Iran in men's basketball

The United States needed this one.

Days after the top-ranked basketball powerhouse's 25-game win streak at the Olympics came to an end versus France, the American men registered their first win at Tokyo 2020, besting Iran 120-66 on Wednesday.

Iran entered the Olympic tournament ranked 23rd in the world.

Damian Lillard led all scorers with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant chipped in 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and two steals.

Former NBA center Hamed Haddadi and Mohammad Jamshidi led Iran with 14 points apiece.

Team USA wraps up preliminary-round play with a tilt versus 12th-ranked Czech Republic on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 8 a.m. ET - bright and early for fans based in North America.
