Former NFL MVP Matt Ryan isn't ruling out a return to the league despite joining CBS Sports as an analyst.

"You never know," Ryan said, according to SiriusXM NFL Radio. "I've tried to keep all doors open. We all know this league is crazy and there are a lot of things that can happen in the course of a season."

He added that "all the stars would have to (align)" for him to return to the field.

The Indianapolis Colts released Ryan at the start of free agency after only one year with the team.

The 38-year-old struggled last season, compiling a 4-7-1 record while throwing for 3,057 yards with 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Indianapolis' offense also struggled, allowing the second-most sacks in the league and ranking 23rd in rushing yards per game.

The four-time Pro Bowler has had an impressive 15-year career, winning the MVP award in 2016 and leading the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl that season.

Ryan ranks seventh all time in passing yards, throwing for 62,792 yards with 381 touchdowns in 234 career games.
