The Carolina Panthers are planning to sign quarterback Andy Dalton to a two-year, $10-million deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Dalton's new deal will include $8 million guaranteed. He can earn up to $17 million with incentives.

Dalton threw for 2,871 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions with the division-rival New Orleans Saints last season. The signal-caller took over as the team's starter after Jameis Winston was injured and never relinquished the role.

The 35-year-old previously spent one season each with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys after nine years with the Cincinnati Bengals. Dalton has thrown for 38,150 yards, 244 touchdowns, and 144 interceptions in 166 career appearances while compiling an 83-77-2 record as a starter.
