Chargers' Bosa fined $55K for unsportsmanlike conduct, criticizing refs
The NFL announced Saturday that Los Angeles Chargers pass-rusher Joey Bosa was fined $55,546 for unsportsmanlike conduct and public criticism of officiating following last week's playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Bosa was fined $29,785 and $13,261 for two instances of poor sportsmanship and $12,500 for his comments regarding NFL referees.
The four-time Pro Bowler called out officials hours after the Chargers blew a 27-0 second-quarter lead and lost in the wild-card round Sunday. He said there "needs to be more accountability" for officials.
"If I say something to them I get a $40,000 fine but if they blow a call that ruins an entire team's season, they'll probably be back in the locker room after the game like, 'Haha, got that asshole, oh yeah, got him 15 yards, what a loser,'" Bosa said Sunday.
"I guarantee it, that's what they're f-----g talking like in the back. I'm sick of those f-----g people."
Bosa's first penalty came after he appeared to bring up a missed call to an official, and he was later flagged for slamming his helmet into the ground following a fourth-quarter Jacksonville touchdown.
The 27-year-old played just five games in the regular season due to injuries and finished the campaign with 2.5 sacks. He registered just one tackle and a quarterback hit versus Jacksonville.
