Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left Sunday's 40-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after suffering a rib injury in the third quarter.

"Had a hard time breathing, rotating my body," Rodgers said postgame, according to Zach Kruse of The Packers Wire.

The Packers initially announced that Rodgers had sustained an oblique injury. The 38-year-old, who was sacked three times versus Philly, added that he'll get more tests on Monday.

"As long as I check out OK tomorrow, I expect to play next weekend," said Rodgers, who earlier this week announced that he's also been playing with a broken thumb since Week 5.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur doesn't plan to shut down Rodgers for the rest of the season as long as the veteran signal-caller is healthy enough.

"If Aaron is healthy and ready to go, I anticipate him being out there," LaFleur said, according to Bill Huber of Packer Central.

Rodgers, the reigning NFL MVP, said postgame he'd be open to conversations about adjusting his role if Green Bay is eliminated from playoff contention but added, "As long as we're mathematically alive, I'd like to be out there," according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

Rodgers completed 11 of 16 pass attempts for 140 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions before leaving the contest with the Packers trailing 34-23.

Jordan Love entered the game for Green Bay with 11:11 left in the fourth quarter. Love connected with rookie receiver Christian Watson on a 63-yard catch-and-run touchdown in his first drive under center. The third-year passer, whom the Packers drafted in the first round in 2020, went 6-for-9 passing with 113 yards and one touchdown in his relief appearance Sunday.

The 4-8 Packers have now lost two straight and visit the Chicago Bears next week.
