Jets' Becton expected to miss season with reported knee cap fracture
New York Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton will "more than likely" miss the 2022 season after suffering a knee injury in practice, head coach Robert Saleh announced Tuesday.
Becton was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture of his right knee cap, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported. He is getting a second opinion on his injury Wednesday.
The Jets initially believed Becton avoided a serious injury, but an MRI revealed he suffered a significant ailment.

The 22-year-old missed the last 16 games of last season after suffering an unrelated injury to the same knee in the season opener.
The 2020 first-round pick played in 14 games as a rookie and looked like an emerging star despite dealing with chest and shoulder injuries.
The Jets opted to move Becton to right tackle ahead of the 2022 campaign after George Fant excelled while filling in at left tackle last year.
New York is eyeing a potential replacement for Becton in veteran Duane Brown, reports ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
