Dallas Cowboys wide receiver James Washington will miss 10 weeks after fracturing his foot during Monday's practice, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones announced, according to Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

However, Washington's timeline could be as short as six weeks, sources told ESPN's Todd Archer. He's reportedly set to undergo surgery in Dallas on Tuesday.

The wideout was carted off after attempting to make a catch downfield.

The loss of Washington further weakens a Cowboys receiving group that was already set to begin the season without Michael Gallup, who tore his ACL in January.

T.J. Vasher, Noah Brown, Jalen Tolbert, and recent addition KaVontae Turpin will fight for snaps behind No. 1 receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Odell Beckham Jr., T.Y. Hilton, Emmanuel Sanders, and Will Fuller are among the notable free agents if Dallas wants to add experience to its wideout unit.
