Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will miss at least three games after being placed on injured reserve as he recovers from finger surgery, the team announced Friday.

The Seahawks also placed running back Cris Carson on injured reserve. He sat out the previous contest against the Los Angeles Rams due to a neck injury.

Wilson's stretch of 149 consecutive regular-season starts will come to an end when he sits out Sunday's contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The streak is the sixth longest by a quarterback in NFL history.

Geno Smith will replace Wilson under center.

The 32-year-old injured his right middle finger on his throwing hand in Seattle's 26-17 loss to the Rams on Oct. 7. He underwent surgery the following day.

The earliest Wilson could return is in a Week 10 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
