Former Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes thinks the Tim Tebow signing could blow up in the face of Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer.

Spikes, who enjoyed a 15-year NFL career spanning from 1998 to 2012, said during an appearance on "The Jake Asman Show on SportsMap Radio" that Tebow's return could have a lot of the team's players eying Meyer.

"I don't think you can lose the locker room unless you do more moves like that. I will say it will raise the attentive of everybody inside of that locker room and it will make them question you as the coach," Spikes said.

"I get you want to sell tickets and create an uproar, but at the same time, it don't matter if you're not winning games. If he can't help us win games, you need to clearly explain, articulate what's going on so you don't lose (the team)."

Tebow officially returned to the NFL as a tight end last month, reuniting with his former college coach Meyer. The plan to sign Tebow reportedly drew a mixed reaction from within the Jaguars' organization. It was also heavily criticized on social media due to Tebow's inexperience at the position. The 33-year-old last appeared in the league as a quarterback in 2015 but hasn't suited up for a game since 2012.

"I would like to think Urban Meyer won't lose the team if it don't work out. But, you can't continue to make moves like that when you know you have other qualified players or other qualified people," Spikes added.

The newly signed tight end has taken the field for OTAs, with his improvement earning praise from Meyer.
