Former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, the son of head coach Andy Reid, has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a Feb. 4 car crash that left a five-year-old girl with a brain injury, the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office announced Monday, according to Dia Wall and Sean Hirshberg of 41 Action News.

Reid can now face a potential jail sentence of one to seven years, Wall and Hirshberg add. Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 bond.

"The Kansas City Chiefs organization remains steadfast in our concern for all who have been impacted by this tragic accident," the Chiefs said in a statement Monday, according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic. "Our prayers are focused on Ariel's continued healing and recovery. The Chiefs are regularly in contact with the family's designated representative during this challenging time."

Reid was involved in a multi-vehicle crash three days before Super Bowl LV near the Chiefs' training complex, according to police. It resulted in two young children being injured, one critically. The critically injured girl was identified as Ariel Young.

The former coach previously told Kansas City police he had consumed two-to-three drinks and also took prescription Adderall.

"The charge is absolutely appropriate under the circumstances. Ariel will have to endure the consequences of this crash for the rest of her life," Tom Porto, the Young family's attorney, said in a statement obtained by Tom Schad of USA Today.

Porto added that Young went home on April 2 and that she's currently unable to walk or talk and depends on a feeding tube for nutrition.

The Chiefs put Reid on administrative leave following the incident and eventually let him go after his contract expired.
