Claypool doubles down on Browns jab, calls rivals 'super classless'

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool made waves Monday by predicting a blowout loss for the Cleveland Browns in the divisional round against the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs.

Claypool doesn't regret saying his team's divisional rivals will get "clapped" by Patrick Mahomes and Co., despite blowback from Browns players and fans, because of how Cleveland treated JuJu Smith-Schuster during the teams' wild-card matchup.

"If the Browns had won with more class, then I wouldn't have been so salty about it, but them mocking JuJu during the game and after the game just didn't sit right with me," Claypool said.

He continued: "They were just super classless against JuJu, toward JuJu, what they were saying on the field toward the end of the game. So, I'm not going to have respect for a team that doesn't have respect for us."

Browns defensive end Adrian Clayborn was among those to respond to Claypool's comment, tweeting, "Just go on vacation already young fella."

"They can enjoy the win and another week of football but they'll be on the couch right next to me next week, so, it's all good," Claypool added.

The rookie Pittsburgh wideout quickly attempted to cool off the war of words between the AFC North clubs, saying he's already connected with several Browns players to clear the air.

"This is an old interview happening right after the fact," Claypool tweeted. "Talked to some friends on the Browns and it's all love! Hoping them nothing but the best for the rest of playoffs! Go rep the division."

Cleveland's 48-37 upset victory over Pittsburgh was its first playoff win since the 1994 season.

While Claypool is seemingly done with the drama, both Browns and Steelers fans will surely still be circling the dates of their teams' 2021 matchups.
