Cowboys complete 15-point 4th-quarter comeback vs. Falcons
Greg Zuerlein's 46-yard field goal as time expired gave the Dallas Cowboys an improbable 40-39 comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Atlanta was up 15 points with 4:45 remaining in the fourth quarter before Dak Prescott scored two late touchdowns (one through the air, one on the ground), and Dallas recovered an onside kick to set up Zuerlein's field goal.
The Cowboys endured a slow start to the game behind a struggling offensive line and trailed 29-10 at halftime. The second half saw Prescott and his offense kick things into gear, and the quarterback finished with 450 passing yards.
Dak's receiving weapons were on full display during Week 2, with Amari Cooper and rookie CeeDee Lamb eclipsing 100 yards. Tight end Dalton Schultz pitched in with nine receptions, 88 yards, and a touchdown.
With his performance, Prescott tied Tony Romo for most career 400-yard passing games in Cowboys history with five.
In what was a disappointing result, quarterback Matt Ryan and receiver Calvin Ridley formed a nearly unstoppable connection for the Falcons. Ryan threw for 273 yards and four scores, two to Ridley. The second-year wideout amassed 109 receiving yards.
Dallas earned its first win of the year, while Atlanta dropped to 0-2. The Cowboys travel to Seattle in Week 3, while coach Dan Quinn's squad will host the 2-0 Chicago Bears next Sunday.
