Nagy remaining confident in Bears' offense despite poor start

The Chicago Bears scored just 19 points through two games this season, which is good for 31st in the NFL. However, head coach Matt Nagy isn't panicking after his offense's slow start.

"We want to figure this thing out," Nagy said, according to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune. "We have time to do that. And we feel like we will ... Eventually, it'll crack. And when it does, I think it's going to be pretty good."

The Bears squeaked out a 16-14 victory over the Denver Broncos in Week 2 after Eddy Pineiro drilled a game-winning 53-yard field goal as time expired.

Nagy's scoring unit, however, failed to move the ball consistently in Denver, managing just 273 yards of total offense. While he's working to improve the deficiencies, the bench boss is recognizing the positives as well.

"We didn't give them a short field with any interceptions or fumbles," Nagy said. "And overall in two games, with there being a lot more negatives than positives offensively, we've done a good job protecting the football.

"That's given us a chance. For trying to figure out who we are and what we do and how good we're going to do it, that has helped us out."

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is at the center of Chicago's offensive struggles this season. He's averaged 4.8 yards per attempt and has yet to throw a touchdown pass.

The Bears take on the Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, and Oakland Raiders in their next three contests before a Week 6 bye. Of that trio, only the Vikings rank in the top half of the league in total defense.
