Report: Lions' Slay, Harrison to report for start of camp

Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay and defensive tackle Damon Harrison will reportedly be in attendance for the beginning of training camp this week despite their contract standoffs, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Both abstained from mandatory minicamp in June, forfeiting nearly $250,000 in workout bonuses each. They would have been fined $40,000 for every day of camp missed.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus, who represents both players, reportedly met with the Lions last week in an attempt to end the impasses.

Slay has two years and $22.55 million left on his contract. Harrison is also signed through 2020 and is scheduled to make $15.75 million over the remainder of his deal.

The veterans are key pieces within Detroit's defense. Slay has been to back-to-back Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro in 2017, while Harrison helped shore up the team's run defense in 2018 with a 50-tackle, 3.5-sack campaign after being acquired midseason from the New York Giants.
