New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon has been given a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy and program on substances of abuse, the team announced Friday.

Herndon pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in June 2018, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Jets have a bye in Week 4, meaning the 23-year-old is eligible to return to the team's active roster in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Herndon finished second on the team with 39 receptions for 502 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie campaign last year. He is still eligible to participate in the team's offseason and preseason practices and games.
