Terrell Suggs' 16-year tenure with the Baltimore Ravens came to a sudden end when he signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals in free agency.

Introduced as a Cardinal for the first time Thursday, Suggs revealed the Ravens tried to re-sign the veteran linebacker and even extended a "handsome" offer.

"It was just time," Suggs said at a press conference. "That organization, that team is very special and dear to me, so is the Valley of the Sun. It feels good to be wearing Cardinal red now."

The 36-year-old said a couple of other teams showed interest but added there was only one team he could see himself playing for if he wasn't returning to Baltimore.

"This is home," said the former Arizona resident and Arizona State alum.

Suggs, a potential future Hall of Famer, will wear a new number on his new jersey. Cardinals pass-rusher Chandler Jones currently wears No. 55 and Suggs has conceded that Jones deserves to keep the digits.

The Cardinals play the Ravens in Baltimore during the 2019 season.
