The Miami Dolphins are signing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a two-year contract, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter, a day after trading away longtime starter Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans.

Fitzpatrick's deal is worth $11 million and has a maximum value of between $17 million and $20 million depending on whether he hits incentives, Schefter added, citing a source.

Meanwhile, Miami sits with the No. 13 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. It's been widely speculated the Dolphins will target a quarterback - at that spot or via a trade up - but they could opt to roll with Fitzpatrick as their starter in what's expected to be a rebuilding year.

This will be the veteran passer's third stint in the AFC East. He played in 55 games for the Buffalo Bills from 2009-12 before spending two years as the New York Jets' starter from 2015-16.

Overall, the Dolphins will be the journeyman's eighth NFL franchise.

The 36-year-old Fitzpatrick started 10 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the past two seasons, splitting time with Jameis Winston. He threw eight touchdowns in the first two games of the 2018 season while Winston was suspended, but lost the job to the former No. 1 overall pick after throwing seven interceptions from Weeks 9-11.
