Watkins says Mahomes' throws at practice are wilder than in-game tricks

Patrick Mahomes has captivated the entire league with one mind-boggling play after another this season, but Kansas City Chiefs receiver Sammy Watkins says throws like the quarterback's famous no-look pass pale in comparison to the things he does in practice.

Mahomes attempts everything from throws behind his back to ones underneath his legs, Watkins told Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report.

"He's always trying stuff out," Watkins said. "And then you get into a game and you're like, 'He's not going to do that stupid no-look pass.' And he gets into the game and does the same thing. That's why he's special."

The All-Pro quarterback is widely expected to take home his first MVP award after throwing for 50 touchdowns and over 5,000 yards. Watkins said his signal-caller "definitely" deserves the trophy regardless of the outcome of Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.

With a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, it's hard to envision Mahomes pulling out a new trick in the conference title game. But if the star passer has proven anything this season, it's that he's willing to take risks most other players wouldn't even think about.
