Cutler has cracked ribs, not expected to play Thursday vs. Ravens

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler is expected to miss Thursday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens - at the very least - after being diagnosed with "multiple cracked ribs," head coach Adam Gase told reporters Monday, including the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley.

Gase did not offer a timeline for Cutler's return, though he clarified that it will be a difficult road to recovery.

“It really becomes a pain tolerance thing once you get everything calmed down," Gase said. "It's not an easy injury. It's tough to breathe, let alone throw (and do) what he has to do as a quarterback.

"That's when, yesterday, just watching him, when he stayed down, I knew it couldn't have been anything good. He's not one to really stay down after getting hit.”

Though Gase wouldn't rule Cutler out, he did say, "Right now it doesn't look real good."

Matt Moore, who led the team to a comeback win over the New York Jets after Cutler was injured Sunday, will start at quarterback in his place, reports Armando Salguero of the Herald. Gase would not speculate on the possibility of Moore keeping the starting job after Cutler recovers from injury.

Gase says the Dolphins' game plan and play-calling strategy will not change with Moore instead of Cutler.
