Seahawks' Lacy opens up about ridicule over weight struggles

Eddie Lacy is an easy target.

Since he was drafted out of Alabama by the Green Bay Packers in the second round in 2013, the running back's battle with weight has become public knowledge.

Just this offseason, after signing with the Seattle Seahawks, his training camp weigh-ins - which were tied to roster bonuses in his contract - made national headlines.

The common football fan knows about Lacy's battle with the scale, and they let him know about it.

"I could pull up my Twitter right now and there would be a fat comment in there somewhere. Like I could tweet, 'Today is a beautiful day!' and someone would be like, 'Oh yeah? You fat,'" Lacy said, according to ESPN's Kevin Van Valkenburg.

"I sit there and wonder: 'What do you get out of that?'"

Lacy revealed that despite losing 22 pounds using P90X workouts last offseason, injuries forced him off his feet and allowed his weight to balloon again.

The online comments came back with the pounds.

"It sucks. It definitely sent me into a funk. I wish I could understand what they get out of it," Lacy said.

"You just can't shake it. And no matter what, you can't say nothing back to them. You just have to read it, get mad or however it makes you feel, and move on. I could be 225 and they'd still be like, 'You're still a fat piece of s---.'"

Lacy has come to terms with the online trolls, who resurfaced after he was a healthy scratch in Week 2.

"The negativity is always there, whether you're doing good or you're going through a funk," he said.
