The saga involving Miami Dolphins linebacker Lawrence Timmons took its latest turn Tuesday, as the team suspended him indefinitely after he reportedly went AWOL over the weekend.

Timmons was absent from the Dolphins' Week 2 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, which led the organization to file a missing persons report, TMZ reported Monday.

The 31-year-old reportedly failed to return for the team-mandated curfew Saturday night, and authorities located him at Los Angeles International Airport early Sunday morning. Timmons was apparently attempting to catch a flight to visit his child in Pennsylvania.

Timmons was scheduled to meet with team doctors Monday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Ahead of those meetings, a source told Schefter that Timmons was "doing much better and wants to resume playing immediately."
