Eagles' Long embraces Jenkins during national anthem protest

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins continued his protest during the national anthem before Thursday's preseason game versus the Buffalo Bills, a gesture that was well-received by his teammates.

Eagles defensive end Chris Long put his arm around Jenkins, while the veteran safety raised his fist to protest racial inequality and police brutality.

Long attended high school in Charlottesville, Virginia, and was enraged by the events that transpired over the weekend.

"I thought it was important that athletes with my skin color stood up with others protesting for racial equality," Long said after the game to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Jenkins stated that he will continue protesting during the anthem for the second consecutive season.
