Raiders kicker Tavecchio channels his inner D-lineman in practice

An 180-pound backup kicker practicing with defensive linemen may sound like some kind of punishment, but Giorgio Tavecchio actually volunteered to take part in the Oakland Raiders' tackling drills.

As Tavecchio explained to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, he got bored during training camp and approached defensive line coach Jethro Franklin about helping out.

"My spirit animal is a defensive lineman," Tavecchio recalled telling Franklin. "I am just not built like one."

This is Tavecchio's third straight offseason with the Raiders. He's also attended camp with the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Lions.

"He told me in his next life he is going to be a defensive lineman," Franklin said. "He is a great kid. Great attitude. So we let him get in there every now and then and mix it up. Tough kid."
