Disney unveils title, cast for Giannis biopic

Disney+

The upcoming Disney+ biopic about Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been given an official title.

The film, which was previously known by the working title "Greek Freak," is now called "Rise," Disney announced Wednesday. It's set to hit the streaming service in 2022.

The film's cast was also unveiled. "Rise" stars real-life brothers Uche Agada and Ral Agada as Giannis and Thanasis, with Jaden Osimuwa and Elijah Sholanke playing the roles of their other brothers, Kostas and Alexandros, respectively. Yetide Badaki will portray the brothers' mother, Vera, and Dayo Okeniyi will play their late father Charles.

"I am thrilled and honored that Disney+ is bringing my family's story to people all over the world," Giannis said in a statement. "My hope is that it will inspire those in similar circumstances to keep the faith, stay true to their goals, and not to give up on striving for a better life."
