The Toronto Raptors are officially the NBA's longest-reigning single-season champions.

The 2019 Raptors set a new record Tuesday by surpassing the previous title reign of 390 days that the 1981 Boston Celtics established, according to CBS Sports' Samuel Quinn.

Quinn explained that while there have been three-peat champions in the NBA, each individual team within the dynasty is considered distinct due to roster and coaching changes.

The Raptors were second in the Eastern Conference with a 46-18 record when the NBA season was suspended in March. Play is set to resume later this month.
