Churchill Downs will be home to the 146th Kentucky Derby on May 2. The Grade I stakes race is the first leg of the Triple Crown, and odds are now taking shape less than three months out from the event.

In a very deep field, here are the prices for horses with odds shorter than 40-1.

Tiz the Law 10-1
Nadal 10-1
Dennis' Moment 12-1

Though Tiz the Law and Nadal are co-favorites, some shops have the former shaded at 8-1. Tiz the Law claimed the Holy Bull Stakes in his sophomore debut on Feb. 1 and is slated for the Florida Derby on March 28. Nadal, who is trained by the legendary Bob Baffert, is fresh off a victory in Sunday's San Vicente Stakes and will also participate in the Florida Derby.

Dennis' Moment is third in the pecking order and regarded as one of the top breakout horses for this year's Triple Crown. The 3-year-old Colt - whose last triumph came in the Iroquois Stakes in September - will make his 2020 debut at the Fountain of Youth race on Feb. 29.

Shops don't think there will be a Triple Crown winner, which is evident by
"Yes" being priced at 8-1 and "No" at 1-25. There have only been two horses - American Pharoah in 2015 and Justify in 2018 - to achieve the feat since 1978.

While the Kentucky Derby features a pair of co-favorites, Nadal's been given the best odds to win the Triple Crown at 33-1. He's followed by Tiz the Law (40-1), Dennis' Moment (50-1), Authentic (66-1), and Maxfield (66-1).
