3 WWE Superstars diagnosed with viral infection, others being tested
A viral infection is to blame for Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt pulling out of Sunday's "TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs" pay-per-view event.
In a statement to ESPN on Friday, a WWE representative said that all in-ring talent and staff are being tested and immunized.
"We have confirmed that three of our performers have been diagnosed with a viral infection. As a precautionary measure, we are ensuring in-ring performers and staff are tested and immunized in accordance with recommended medical guidelines."
The representative didn't specify what the virus is, but Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. reports that WWE is testing members of the "RAW" roster for the mumps. It was reportedly discovered while the talent was being tested for viral meningitis.
WWE announced earlier Friday that Kurt Angle and AJ Styles will be replacing Reigns and Wyatt at "TLC."
