Report: Mayweather to open 500 gyms, release workout app

Floyd Mayweather stands to make a fortune from his upcoming clash with Conor McGregor, some of which will go toward opening a boxing gym business with plans for 500 outlets, according to Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes.

The undefeated boxer will launch Mayweather Boxing & Fitness next month, accompanied by a training app in which Mayweather himself serves as a digital personal trainer and walks users through his own workout regimen.

"It is impossible to deny that Floyd is one of the fittest athletes on the planet," company CEO James William said." If you are looking for a better workout, there are few people on the planet who can give you that information."

The company plans to launch 200 gyms within 24 months and 500 franchises within five years. The member fee will vary depending on demographics, but could range from $40-$140 per month.

Mayweather's upcoming fight doesn't appear to have put any of his business plans on hold. The gym announcement comes on the heels of him reiterating his plans to own an NBA franchise last week.

For now, Mayweather would do well to focus his sole attention on the Aug. 26 bout with McGregor, where he will look to remain unbeaten and avoid what would arguably be the biggest upset in boxing history.
