Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is attempting to explain himself after an exchange with former players on social media went viral.

"I gotta do better on that and not ride with it, but I was bored," Sanders said during an appearance on "Thee Pregame Show." "I was bored. I didn't say nothing hurtful. I don't attack people."

Sanders claimed he was coming to the defense of his son after a user on X messaged him.

The message prompted a fierce reply from Sanders in defense of his son, Shedeur Sanders, who is the starting quarterback for the Buffaloes.

"He will be a top-five pick," Sanders posted. "Where yo son going?"

The Pro Football Hall of Famer didn't apologize for his comments, instead describing them as "real."

Sanders also came under fire following an exchange regarding Austin Peat defensive back Jaheim Ward and Colorado wideout Kaleb Mathis. After a user posted Ward's stats, Sanders commented "Lawd Jesus" on a repost.

The feud appeared to occur after an article was published by The Athletic detailing how Sanders revamped the roster upon being hired by Colorado in 2022. "Coach Prime" dismissed several players from a team that went 1-11, including Xavier Smith, the former Buffaloes defensive back who said that Sanders was "destroying guys' confidence and belief in themselves."

Shedeur Sanders came to his father's defense on X, posting that he didn't remember Smith being on the roster and describing him as an average-at-best player.

"Coach Prime" is set to enter his second season at the helm of the Buffaloes. After Colorado improved from 1-11 in 2022 to 4-8 in 2023, there are expectations that the program will take another step as it prepares to re-join the Big 12 Conference next season.
