Kingsbury declines to discuss Oklahoma opening
Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury won't discuss whether he's interested in the vacant head coaching position at Oklahoma.
"I don't get into those things," he said, according to team reporter Darren Urban. "My sole focus the last couple of weeks has been the Chicago Bears."
Kingsbury added: "We're in-season, we're 9-2, just not a topic I want to touch right now."
The 42-year-old is reportedly one of the prime candidates to replace outgoing coach Lincoln Riley, who's headed to USC.
Kingsbury has just one year remaining on his deal with the Cardinals following the 2021 season. He's in the midst of his most successful campaign since being hired in 2019. The Cardinals sit atop the NFC West standings with 12 weeks nearly in the books.
He spent six seasons with Texas Tech, leading his alma mater to a 35-40 mark before the team fired him toward the end of the 2018 campaign.
Kingsbury has led the Cardinals to its impressive record despite missing stars Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins, and J.J. Watt during various points of the season.
The Cardinals are optimistic Murray and Hopkins can return to the field ahead of their matchup against the Bears on Dec. 5.
