Over

Wake Forest

Wake Forest is typically a 'tweener in the ACC, but the forecast is favorable for 2021.

Last year was a good opportunity for head coach Dave Clawson to get his ducks in a row. The offense ranked No. 125 in returning production entering the season after losing quarterback Jamie Newman, running back Cade Carney, and the top four receivers from 2019.

Though the Demon Deacons posted just 5.3 yards per play in 2020, the new-look unit flashed its potential.

Wake Forest put up 38 points or more in five of its nine contests, led by redshirt sophomore quarterback Sam Hartman, who posted 2,224 yards and 13 touchdowns against five picks.

With all the newcomers stepping in last season, this year's offense is in terrific shape. The unit returns 88% of its production - good for No. 8 in the country - including its leading rusher and top six receivers, not to mention a line featuring four upperclassmen.

Wake Forest ducks Notre Dame this season and doesn't draw Miami. The Demon Deacons have two winnable nonconference games right out of the gate, which should give them the momentum to rip through their schedule and go over the total.

It's certainly doable for Clawson, who's notched seven wins or more in each of his last four full seasons.

Under

Boston College

This isn't necessarily a desirable play to make, but we can't ignore the number. Though the program is trending in the right direction, Boston College might still be a few years away.

Last year was an odd one for the Eagles. They lost by only four to North Carolina and should have beaten Clemson; they barely escaped Texas State and Syracuse, topping those two by a combined seven points. Boston College also edged Pitt with a one-point overtime win but lost by 26 to Virginia Tech. When all was said and done, Boston College clocked out with a minus-0.6 scoring margin.

Star quarterback Phil Jurkovec is back for an offense returning 84% of last year's production, but will the Eagles get any stops? Head coach Jeff Hafley is defensively minded, but all three levels last season were ranked bottom four in the ACC by Athlon Sports.

Boston College is intriguing, but the market seems too high on the program in 2021.
