Vanderbilt-Georgia postponed due to Commodores' lack of players

Saturday's matchup between Vanderbilt and No. 8 Georgia has officially been postponed to Dec. 19 because the Commodores do not meet minimum roster requirements for the game.

Vanderbilt's lack of student-athletes is a result of COVID-19 issues as well as injuries and opt-outs.

The rescheduled game will be declared a no-contest if Georgia should qualify for the SEC Championship Game.

The Commodores have struggled mightily this season. The school recently fired head coach Derek Mason amid the team's 0-8 record, with Todd Fitch replacing him on an interim basis. Vanderbilt also made history last week when Commodores kicker Sarah Fuller became the first woman to play in a Power 5 football game.

Georgia - currently eighth in the College Football Playoff selection committee's top 25 - has a 6-2 record and trails only Florida in the SEC East.
