25 Notre Dame players remain in isolation due to COVID-19

Twenty-five Notre Dame football players remain in isolation because of COVID-19, with 14 other members placed in quarantine due to contact tracing, the school announced Monday evening.

Last week, the Fighting Irish announced the postponement of their Week 4 game against Wake Forest because of 18 positive tests. That game is now scheduled Dec. 12.

The team is scheduled to resume practicing Wednesday, head coach Brian Kelly told ESPN's Heather Dinich. Kelly added that the outbreak is being traced to a team meal and that changes to team meal protocol will be made. The club also believes that a player who threw up on the sideline on Sept. 19 after becoming dehydrated also played a role in the uptick of positive cases.

The No. 5 ranked program is playing its first football season in the ACC because of complications to the college football schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Notre Dame is scheduled to return to action on Oct. 10 when it hosts Florida State.
