Georgia quarterback JT Daniels "will be cleared" to play this week against Auburn, head coach Kirby Smart said Monday, according to Seth Emerson of The Athletic.

Daniels transferred to Georgia in May after a two-season stint at USC. He was granted eligibility to play in 2020 but missed the Bulldogs' season opener due to a torn ACL he suffered during the 2019 opener.

Daniels will likely be a major boost to Georgia's offense, as the team's starting quarterback role appears to be up for grabs.

The Bulldogs benched D'Wan Mathis in their season-opening matchup against Arkansas after Mathis threw an interception and completed less than 50% of his passes in the first half.

Junior Stetson Bennett replaced Mathis and amassed 211 yards and two touchdowns during Georgia's 37-10 victory.

Daniels completed 59.5% of his pass attempts for 2,672 yards with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions through 11 games as a freshman with the Trojans.
