Nebraska 'fully committed' to Big Ten despite season cancellation

Nebraska's alliance with the Big Ten will not be changing despite the school's disappointment with the conference after it canceled its football season this fall.

University president Ted Carter and chancellor Ronnie D. Green released a statement Thursday outlining their commitment to remaining a member of the Big Ten.

"The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a fully committed member of the Big Ten Conference. It is an unparalleled athletic and academic alliance," the statement read.

"We have the greatest fans in college athletics. This has been a difficult and disappointing week for the Husker family. We all look forward to the day when we can cheer on our student-athletes, on the field and in the arena."

Before the Big Ten officially announced its decision to postpone the 2020 football campaign, Nebraska head coach Scott Frost said the school wanted to play a conference schedule, but added he wouldn't rule out options outside of it.

The Cornhuskers were "very disappointed" with the Big Ten's decision not to play in 2020.

While the Big Ten and Pac-12 won't play any sports this fall, the Big 12 released its adjusted schedule for the 2020 season Wednesday. The SEC and ACC have yet to make a decision regarding the upcoming campaign.
