Tua undergoes ankle procedure, Alabama expects 'speedy recovery'

Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa underwent a successful tight-rope procedure on his right ankle Sunday morning.

Saban noted the injury is the same as the one he battled last season, but to the opposite ankle. He'll miss next week's game against Arkansas, but the team expects a "full and speedy recovery."

Tagovailoa suffered the high ankle sprain late in the second quarter of Saturday's win over Tennessee while landing awkwardly as he was sacked. Following the game, Saban speculated his quarterback could miss one-to-two weeks.

The Crimson Tide have a bye week following next Saturday's tilt with the Razorbacks. A pivotal matchup against LSU awaits Nov. 9.

One of the top passers in college football, Tagovailoa was in the midst of another Heisman-worthy campaign. He's totaled 29 touchdowns to just two interceptions through seven games.
