Nick Saban underwent hip replacement surgery Monday, but not before hitting the links.

The 67-year-old Alabama head coach told Cecil Hurt of TideSports.com on Wednesday that he scheduled his surgery for the afternoon so he could get in a round of golf beforehand.

"I went into the hospital on Monday at 3 o'clock," he said. "I scheduled it in the afternoon because I wanted to play 18 holes (of golf) before I went in. So I played 18 in the morning, flew back from Florida and checked in."

Saban was back at work just two days after his surgery and said he's hoping for a quick recovery.

"I had one day on the walker," he continued. "Now I'm on the cane. I'll probably throw that (SOB) away tomorrow.

"Right now, they have me doing 10 different isometric exercises four times a day. We will continue that for three or four days and go from there."
