Report: USC's Kingsbury interviewing for Jets' head coaching job

USC offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is interviewing with the New York Jets for their vacant head coaching position, a source told The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

The former Texas Tech head coach, whose Air Raid offense produced great success in the college ranks, is also a candidate for the Arizona Cardinals' head coaching job, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kingsbury was initially blocked by USC from interviewing with NFL teams. He joined its staff in December after a six-year tenure as the head coach at Texas Tech, his alma mater.

The Cardinals and Jets were known to be interested in Kingsbury when USC was denying interview requests. At that time, Kingsbury and the Cardinals shared a strong mutual interest, according to Schefter.

It's unclear whether USC changed its stance with Kingsbury and allowed him to start speaking with NFL clubs or if his status with the school changed.

The 39-year-old Kingsbury helped develop NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Davis Webb, and Baker Mayfield during his time with the Red Raiders.
